Appeal for Online Professors – Teach Online from Anywhere to Build Bridges to the World
The Massachusetts, Cambridge-based American University of Kinshasa Foundation is looking for Volunteer Professors to Teach Online for its affiliated French-American University / Université Franco-Américaine. Our goal is to work towards equalizing or democratizing the world access to quality higher education so as to advance humanity itself.
Increasing access to higher education, especially in developing countries, has the potential to improve and save lives. For example most survivors of the recent seven-year war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo need access to high-quality college education. The protracted war and its extended financial crisis killed over five million people, affected lives, social and physical infrastructures, and dismantled schools. There is a humanitarian imperative to bring the classroom to life again in that nation, and this online education is a timely and appropriate response to the crisis.
Volunteer professors can help bring much-needed higher education to many people around the world in spite of their geographic location or limited financial resources. The French American University will be able to reach students in need globally, with particular attention to students from developing countries in Africa, South America or Asia. The doors are equally open to students from any continent or nation who might be interested in our quality programs. The hope is that many professors from around the world will seize this volunteering opportunity to donate a gift of hope and education by teaching at least one free course online. To lower the teaching language barriers so as to reach more people in need, courses will be taught in English, French, Spanish (MBA ONLY), and Portuguese. You are free to teach in any of the four languages. We intend to use the e-learning software MOODLE, an open source Course Management System. Online courses will start in the following fields and other program will be introduced progressively:
Business & Management (Bachelor, MBA) Computer Science & Information Technology (Bachelor, Master) Diplomacy & International Relations (Master)
Please check the full lists of courses as they contain general and foundation courses that reach out to other fields like Mathematics, Calculus, Statistics, Business Law, French, English, Philosophy and much more.
If you would like to help equalizing higher education and build a meaningful bridge to the world, please complete the form below and invite your colleagues to join us. Consult the list of proposed courses, complete the online application, paste your résumé/curriculum Vitae, and select the course(s) you intend to teach. We can always discuss and review the content of the selected course (s). Please mention any experience you may have with online teaching.
Thank you for volunteering.
